Wendy Perez was born and raised in Houston, TX. Her family is from Mexico, and she is first-generation to attend and graduate from college. She received her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Painting at the University of Houston in 2019.

Wendy is known for her bird paintings and ceramic sculptures. When she was a little girl, she ran beneath flying birds and imitated their actions by extending her arms out. She loved birds so much and admired their freedom to soar the skies. This inspired her imagination, and later turned into drawings onto paper.

    After receiving her bachelor's degree, Wendy faced hardship like many others during the Covid pandemic when it was declared. It was a difficult time to acquire a job in the art field due to many locations being closed to the public. Therefore, she helped out a family friend by opening a driving school. Wendy became a driving instructor and helped out teens and adults apprehend the important life skill.

Wendy acquired great skills in how to operate a business and communicate with the community to promote awareness about safety driving. She wanted to make a connection of her business skills and passion in visual arts into the art scenic sphere. Thus, she decided to pursue for higher education for Art.  

     She is currently a MFA candidate of Houston Baptist University. Wendy is exploring about combining 2D and 3D elements through different mediums and techniques with the usage of printmaking, photography, ceramics and painting. Wendy aspires to one day open an art gallery with joint of art studios to provide opportunities for everyone and share the knowledge about the beauty of art. Art is an universal language that brings people together with its power of creations through imagination and emotions.
